Imaging Equipment
Digital Radiology
The radiograph (x-ray) machine at Lakeside Animal hospital provides prompt images and analysis of your pet’s body ailment. The use of x-ray imaging often times allows the assessment of fractured bones, dislocated joints, heart disease, lung disease, abdominal masses, gastrointestinal foreign bodies, etc. X-ray imaging is also helpful to use prior to and following surgery to provide accurate diagnosis and evaluation of surgical issues.
Upper Gastrointestinal Barium Study
This procedure uses liquid barium to assess your pet’s GI tract. A barium study can be useful for the detection of gastrointestinal foreign bodies, gastrointestinal motility disorders, etc.
Dental Radiography
Our separate in house digital dental radiographs allow evaluation of your pet’s oral cavity. Dental radiographs are used to locate retained tooth roots, un-errupted teeth, oral tumors, and to assess the health and integrity of the jaw bones.
Ultrasound
Our in house ultrasound is used for a variety of services. The ultrasound guides urine collection via cystocentesis and is also useful for locating bladder stones, etc. Abdominal and thoracic ultrasound can also be performed to assess different organ systems more accurately. Should an organ biopsy be recommended, ultrasound can help guide a veterinarian to the area of interest and potentially avoid a more invasive surgical procedure.
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
The ECG unit is useful for providing rapid evaluation of your pet’s heart. This machine assesses the electrical activity of your pet’s heart and can be useful for detecting abnormal heart rhythms, heart rate, etc.
